Founded in 1901 and named for Philip D. Armour, meat packer and railroad director. In acknowledgment of the courtesy, Armour purchased a bell for the town's first church. Armour is the Dougalas County Seat and is still a town with many busy main Street businesses. The Douglas County Museum is housed here and has the honor of being on the National Register of Historic Sites.
