Beresford, South Dakota was originally named Paris in 1873, but later the name was changed to Beresford when the railroad was built in 1884. The name was changed to honor Lord Charles Beresford of England, a financier of the railroad.

Beresford, SD is centered in a fertile agricultural area of South Dakota that the early settlers first made their homes. Beresford is in the heart of the corn growing section of South Dakota. The Beresford area is also home to many of South Dakota’s ringneck pheasant populations. In the fall you can find the skies darkened with flocks of migrating ducks and geese, making the Beresford area a prime duck and goose hunting country too.

Beresford, South Dakota is a great place to stop for a bite to eat as there are some really good country home cooking restaurants here.
