Annual Santa Maria Barbecue
Annual fund raiser for the South Dakota Air and Space Museum. Babecue, cole slaw, beans, and beverage. Proceeds go towards new displays and promting the avation of South Dakota.

Ellsworth Heritage Foundation
Box Elder, South Dakota began its existence as a railroad town in 1907 when the North Western railroad reached a general store on the Box Elder Creek while building through to Rapid City. The town was centrally important as a shipping point to and from the Black Hills and surrounding ranching concerns.
Today, Box Elder is one of the front gates to the Ellsworth Air Force Base. Most of the residents here are associated with the Air Force Base.
Box Elder has convenience stores and gas, locally owned restaurant and bar, campsites and lodging for the traveler looking for a travel stop along South Dakota's Interstate 90.
