Doland, South Dakota is another small agricultural town that was founded by the railroad in 1882 and named by the railroad. Doland’s name comes from F.H. Doland, a director of the North Western railroad.

Doland is the boyhood home of Hubert H. Humphrey, Vice President of the United States and also a governor of South Dakota, Harvey Wollman.

Doland, SD has a large trade territory as it is situated in a productive farming region. Doland lies in the heart of Pheasant Hunting country on Highway 212.
