Huron, South Dakota was settled in 1880 and incorporated by the Dakota Territorial legislature in 1883. Huron serves as the hub for the numerous small towns that lie close by. Though at one time Huron was largely dependent upon agricultural and allied pursuits, this South Dakota city today has industries to process the farm products, including a meat packing company. Huron is the home of the South Dakota State Fair, Huron College and the County seat of Beadle County.
