In its 3rd year, the SD State BBQ Championship is a Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned event. Competitors from ten plus states vie for the Grand Champion Trophy and a chance to go to a national competition. A peoples choice is held for the public. In addition, there is the Fat Friday Chili Challenge. Located at the SD State Fairgrounds.

Wheel Jam
Wheel Jam is three big days, three big shows and thousands of wheels. Kicks off Friday with the Big Jam Battle of the Bands. Saturday activities include classic car show and shine, dynamic engine brake and loud pipe competitions, live entertainment and stock car races. Sunday activities include car, motorcycle and semi shows. All at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds.

South Dakota Outdoor Expo
The only statewide annual outdoor event that focuses heavily on education and interaction. Purpose is to expose thousands of families to outdoor activities that they may not have experienced. Hundreds of exhibits and activities covering camping, hunting, wildlife management, shooting sports, fishing, aquatic education, Dutch oven cooking, and the importance of preserving our outdoor recreation heritage. Event is being held at the State Fairgrounds.

Huron, South Dakota was settled in 1880 and incorporated by the Dakota Territorial legislature in 1883.
Huron, South Dakota serves as the hub for the numerous small towns that lie close by. Although at one time Huron was largely dependent upon agricultural and allied pursuits; today the Huron has industries to process the farm products, including a meat packing company. Huron is the home of the State Fair, Huron College and the County seat of Beadle County.
