Lake Andes Fish Days

Fish Days is a three day annual event that's held on the first full weekend in June. The family-oriented activities include something for all ages. Activities include but are not limited to: a Dart Tournament, Miss. Fish Days Queen and Lil' Miss Fishy Contest, Alex Knudsen III Annual Softball Tournament, Fishing Tournament, Parade, Mud Run and Drag Race, Kids'Games, Kids' Pedal Pull, Car Show, Bingo, Free-will Fish Dinner, Street Dance, Mutton Bustin', Motorcycle Blessing and Breakfast, Demolition Derby, and a Fireman's Water Fight. All these locally sponsored events, plus a 3 day carnival help to make Fish Days a family friendly event you should not miss. Admission charged at some of the activities.

Lake Andes Annual Dutch Oven Gathering

Lake Andes, South Dakota was founded in 1904 and after a 40 year battle with Wheeler, Lake Andes became the county seat of Charles Mix County in 1916. Lake Andes, SD derives its name from the near by Lake Andes.

The small town of Lake Andes is picturesquely located on a slope near the end of the namesake lake. The Lewis and Clark Trail route runs through Lake Andes, SD.

Lake Andes is also in close proximity to the Missouri River and provides some of the best fishing in this area. The rolling bluffs and farm fields provide food and shelter for deer and game birds, thus providing excellent hunting facilities.
