Highway 79 is one of the shortest highways on the map, but one that is full of history. Highway 79 actually starts just outside of Hot Springs and travels to the North Dakota line. The history of this highway is full of gold prospectors, cattle drives, outlaws, Indian attacks and the U.S. Cavalry. There are not many towns left along this highway but each one has its own story to tell. Listen closely and you can hear the shouts of "GOLD".
