| The Lewis and Clark Trail follows the Missouri River starting in North Sioux City, SD and winds north on Highway 50 to State Highway 1806 to North Dakota. This portion of the Lewis and Clark Expedition takes the traveler from the southern river bottom lands of South Dakota northward through the central prairie lands, ending in the northern lakes area of South Dakota. Eleven South Dakota cities on the Lewis & Clark Trail route will provide a variety of events and festivals showcasing the re-enactments of various stages of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The South Dakota Lewis & Clark Trail can be a living history trip with authentic costumes and river boats of that era on display and part of a live reenactment. |
